Drop the photo you want checked

Checked against the rules for a 2×2 inch US visa or passport photo · nothing is uploaded

How it works

  1. 1Choose the photo you want checked, or drag it onto the box.
  2. 2It is measured in your browser — dimensions, weight, background, focus, and the head outline.
  3. 3Each check is reported separately, with what to change if it fails.

Questions

Does a pass here guarantee it will be accepted?

No, and any tool that says otherwise is overselling. This measures what is measurable from the file — dimensions, weight, background evenness, focus, and the head outline. It cannot judge your expression, whether your glasses reflect, whether your eyes are fully open, or how the light falls on your face. Those are the remaining reasons a photo gets refused, and a person still decides them.

How is the head size worked out without a face scan?

From the outline, not from your face. Because the rules require a plain background, the head can be separated from it by contrast alone — no face model, no biometric scan, nothing downloaded. The width is measured and the height derived from it, so it is reported as an estimate rather than a measurement. If the background is not plain enough, the tool says it could not judge instead of guessing.

Is my photo uploaded for the check?

No. The whole analysis runs on a canvas in your browser. That matters more here than on the other tools: a face photo is biometric data, and the safest way to handle it is never to receive it.

Is this the same as "us visa photo checker"?

Yes. It also gets called "ds-160 photo checker" and "green card photo checker". They all describe this one job, and this page does it.
